Ted's Bio Pic

Bio

Ted York has been shooting and developing photographs since 1968. He received a Bachelor of Arts in photography from Brigham Young University, while working as a photographer at the University's portrait studio. Upon Graduating from BYU he entered the military where he flew aircraft for the USAF until 1987 when he went to work for Delta Air Lines as a cockpit crewmember. His airline career went under a massive change after 9-11 leading to his decision to retire early and start a career in his first love – photography.

Ted has rapidly become an award winning professional photographer. Within two years of founding his studio he was awarded a Platinum level Photographer of the Year Award for his standing in the Professional Photographers of America's International Print Competition. Only four photographers, world wide, scored better than he did in 2007. He has gone on to receive three more Photographer of the Year Awards at the state, regional, and international level. In 2009 he received the coveted Canon Par Excellence award for his performance in the Intermountain Regional Photography Competition and now uses the $4,000 camera given to him by Canon. He has won many other awards, but his crowning achievement occurred in January, 2011, at the Professional Photographers of America convention where he was awarded a PPA Master of Photography Degree for both his success in the international print competitions and his service to professional photographers.

Aside from being a Master Photographer, Ted is certified by the Professional Photographers Certification Commission. Shortly after this achievement he was asked to teach classes to assist other professional photographers working towards their certification. He now acts as a liaison for the PPCC in the state of Utah and actually administers exams to aspiring professionals.

It has been an interesting road in the world of digital photography, but Ted absolutely loves it. Professional digital cameras along with the digital darkroom and the new professional printers have enabled an entirely new level of creativity. Continuing to hone his technical and creative skills, Ted attends PPA and IPPA educational forums and conventions 4 to 5 times a year. Ted aspires to provide his clients with the best customer service and the very best portraiture he can. He would tell you that for him photography just keeps getting better and that when it comes to professional photography – there is a difference.
