I've been saving my Canon EOS R on a shelf for several ears now. It was the camera that took me into the world of mirrorless cameras. It also brought the joy of photography back into my life again. OK, maybe it was not quite the dramatic, but I loved using that camera, it was downright fun to have in my hand. When Canon brought out the EOS R5 I upgraded and moved on. But I never sold the EOS R. I'd always wanted a a camera capable of photographing in infrared. and the R was going to be it! It took me several years because at the time going infrared was not a priority. Finally, a week ago I took the camera across town to Spencer's Camera and had them do the conversion. Life is pretty good when you are a pro photographer and there's a camera repair shop, not a mile from the house. When you live in a small bedroom community, that is against the odds! Anyway - this morning I picked the converted camera up and of course had to take it for a spin. I had a lot to do so I just walked around the house and then down the street seeing what I could capture, nothing serious other than to see if it worked properly and get a feel for how it captured various subjects. My first impression is this camera will take me into a new world. It was amazing how things I wouldn't get excited about normally, suddenly looked interesting to me. What I'm showing you here is not my best work. The photographs are just a collection of my first impressions. I think they are surprisingly good for what they are. The post processing is different too, so it will take me a while to understand and get down pat. But, I can't be happier to be seeing the world in an entirely new way.
