Years ago, before I entered the world of professional photography, my wife and I were back in Picturline, a local camera store. It was a week or two after I had purchased my first digital single lens reflex camera. The clerk who sold me the camera came up to say hello and asked how I was enjoying the camera? My wife didn't give me a chance to answer looking at the salesman she blurted out,"He even takes pictures of the kids now!" That said it all. I was excited about my entry into digital photography. It happened again when I purchased my 51megapixel monster from Canon over three years ago. The detail that the camera turns out is extraordinary. I bought it with the intent of photographing large families and making large prints for them, but I soon found I used it for everything. But now something new has come along. Canon has entered the world of full frame mirror-less cameras. I purchased their new EOS R along with a new RF lens designed for the camera. Last Tuesday (When I should have been blogging) I went on a whirlwind trip through parts of southern Utah and gave my new machine a workout. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed using the camera and after downloading the images the next morning I became an evangelist for the EOS R. The new lens for the camera is phenomenal! The excitement I felt showed in some of the images I captured during the day. Our travels started in Bryce canyon, took us past Capital Reef, into Little Wild Horse Canyon and finished up in Goblin Valley. While the camera resolution is not equal to my 51 mp machine, at 30mps it is no slouch. (If the rumors are true I'll be shooting with at 70+mp camera by next year.) Enjoy some of the images I captured as I relay the excitement, not only of a new camera, but new technology that is opening the realm of possibilities. I have the feeling that by this time next year I will be excited all over again!
