Utah Eatin's #2

This evening we went out to our favorite sushi restaurant called Itto Sushi. The owner is actually a friend of ours. He and my oldest son served a mission together in Japan. Somewhere around 2013 he opened his first restaurant in located in Midvale, Utah. He now owns four, one in Salt Lake City, Provo and the latest, South Jordan. Tonight we went to the South Jordan venue and I grabbed my wife's camera so I could take some blogging photos. I've discovered I need to learn how to use it. I was using a camera I bought for my wife and am still trying to figure out, but I got a few images for you to look at. We have been regulars at itto for a long time. Yes I know the owner, but I've lived in Japan for 6 and a half years of my life and I'm picky about my sushi! My favorite roll of choice is the "mafia". It's a spicy one but there is something I love about the sauce and I always ask for extra! My wife prefers the non-spicy rolls and most often orders the "sunset". This evening she went for the "Hawaiian" pictured below. I forgot to shoot pictures of mine - too busy enjoying it - and I didn't get to my wife's until most of it was gone. I also ordered a an "Unagi Don" which is a dish featuring fresh water eel on rice. I love it! I did manage to photograph that dish. The flower in the middle was edible so I ate it! If you are not brave enough for eel you can always get a "Katsu don" or a "gyu don" featuring pork and marinated beef respectively. They are under entrees in the menu. Keep in mind, if you cringe at the thought of eating raw fish that not all sushi has raw fish and that there are lots of things on the menu that do not have raw fish. We were with a group for dinner one evening. One of the wives didn't want to eat raw fish until my wife asked her if she had ever tried it. The gal took the plunge and soon learned how good it is. Itto has lunch specials as well as evening specials. You can have a couple of specialty rolls for between 18 to24 dollars When I'm with my wife we spend 35 to 45. We have been to all four locations, but have gone to the Midvale one most often since we started there shortly after Itto first opened the shop. But the new South Jordan restaurant is close to a place we go dancing so we may be found there a lot more often. If you happen to meet the owner, Itto, tell him Ted York said to say hello. It might put a smile on his face.
