I love my wife's masterpiece; her flower garden. It's a work of art that she has created around our home. One of my favorite things to do is grab the camera in the evening and wander around looking for subjects in her garden to turn into works of art. This is an area where I don't get too serious. You probably won't see me out in the yard with lighting equipment, tripods, and assistants. I just like to walk around and relax. This is one time it works for me. My garden photographs lay somewhere between reality and abstract. Some of it is nothing more than an exercise in "seeing". Trying to fine a beautiful photograph where I haven't seen one before. Flowers are not always my main subject. I occasionally zero in on the insects who are busily carrying on with their purpose in life among the beautiful colors that change during the season. All the varieties bloom at different times changing the view from whites to yellows, and purples, oranges, reds, and blues. finally, I spend time looking for the right kind of light. Finding good light is not always easy, but it is a challenge I enjoy. I love this little world she has created. It wasn't easy. She works hard during the spring clean up - trimming and raking. Then there are the weeds, the watering, and the deer. Oh, the deer - another topic. But, it's worth it to her, and results in a masterpiece she can be proud of. And a masterpiece I take advantage of in my quest to create photographic masterpieces of my own.
